Lets Break Out the Winter Albums. . . Psych!

I’ve noticed that the last few posts have begun to take on an increasingly chill pattern which is heading towards that winter album theme. Well the many followers of the blog are not ready for winter yet (hopefully there will be others. . .) so it’s time to pick it up again. I think the perfect band to convey this message is the Winter Gloves whom are currently on tour from their home in Montreal.

The band is lead by Charles F. whose vocals are a unique addition to this synthpop band. His voice brings a glimpse from his previous days in a rock based band which leaves you wondering where that kick ass guitar solo is going to come into the mix. Hopefully the organ-keyboard-glockenspiel harmonies are enough to settle this craving.

The band was touring with Tokyo Police Club when their debut album About a Girl was released containing the three songs from their original EP Let me Drive. The album gives off that synthetic feel which leaves you wanting more. Two songs that come to mind are Invisible and Hillside which best demonstrate the beautiful synth styling of the album. They contrast greatly with possibly the most rockesque song on the album, Glass Paperweight. Of course Winter Gloves is not the band you expected when first reading my lust for a noise band to shake off the first signs of the winter cold.

For all the fans of Deerhunter out there and of the numerous side projects which are currently a hit due to the recent Logo’s release I have a real treat for you. If you are seeking that real bubbling sound with none of that raunchy after taste, look no further. Josh Fauver creates his own Diet Cola but it only includes the benefits you are looking for in the ideal diet beverage (as I attempt to keep the metaphor alive). The EP Early Warning 7” has all the sparkle/noise you love and it is lean with only four tracks to help those of you who need to cut the bytes. Well for those who are sick of my likely overused pun here is what you were waiting for.

Till next time guys.
